MAKSTIL AD in 1999 started an intensive investment program of
modernization of its production units supported by the European Bank
for Reconstruction and Development and Duferco which granted
15 milion Usd loan. The investments projects were realized with
international leading manufacturing companies in the following units:
VAI/KVAERNER – Rolling Stand, AGC-Level 2 – Tracking System
SMS DEMAG – Revamping of Caster No. 3
STB TECNOSIDERURGICA BRESCIANA – Ladle Furnace (secondary metallurgy)
TECHINT – Revamping of the EAF-Instalation of KT Injection System
(substitution of electrical energy with the chemical one)
BLOOM EUROPE – Gasification and Control System of the Pusher Furnace
CARLO BANFI – Shot-Blasting and Painting Line
Ecological Facilities and Radioactivities Detection Systems
Plate Marker and die stamping
Automation of Cranes
Integrated Information System (ERP Solution)
MAKSTIL AD supported by Duferco in April 2007 have started
realization of the second investment phase valued at new 22 milion Euro
and additional 20 milion Euro in projects related to the environmental
protection. All the activities in MAKSTIL AD will be realized with
entire credit support by STOPANSKA BANKA AD, a member of NBG GROUP from
Greece.
This phase will cover the following developing activities:
Automatic system for regulation of electrodes in Steel Making Plant
Intensification of the production process by replacement of the 60
MVA transformer with a 100 MVA transformer
Installation of a new reheating furnace
Installation of a new descaling system
Revamping of the cooling system and internal transportation of the
plates
Retrospectively and long term:
MAKSTIL AD was awarded with high honorable prize "Golden
Macedonian Sun"
by the Governement of the Republic of Macedonia, due to successful
results in production and export

leader in the metal industry in the Republic of Macedonia and the region
As unique macedonian steel producer, Makstil AD is the core
company in the new National Steel Section Strategy, a Short-term
Macedonian Restructuring Programme of the Steel Sector supported by
European Agency for Reconstruction as main objective of the European
Union’s Treaty for Association and Stabilization of the Eastern Europe.
The Draft Regional Initiation "European Steel Star 2001" has been
designed to promote production, processing and trade of steel products
in the Balkan region. The final target is the creation of new regional
dynamics in favour of implementation of economical cooperation and
coordination in the region, objectives compatible with the general goals
of the European Commission policies
