Makstil AD Process

Makstil is a secondary steel producer obtaining its steel mainly from scrap. It has a typical capacity of near 350.000 tonnes HRP per annum. A very flexible plant since it can be easily started and stopped on a regular basis, according to the market demand, operating on 24 hour schedules when demand is high and cutting back production when sales are lower. It is capable for small and large series of production, short terms of shipment and wide range of different steel grades. It is comprised of one Steel Shop and one Hot Rolling Mill.

The Steel Shop consists of an electric arc furnace (EAF) to produce liquid steel, ladle furnace for secondary refining and three continuous casting machine lines to transform liquid steel into slabs, with an annual installed capacity of 550.000 mt.

Plate Mill

The Plate Mill has an annual installed capacity of 350,000 hot rolled plates with the following dimensional range: thickness 5-100 mm (130 mm upon request), width up to 3’050 mm and length 3,500-18,500 mm.
